Campaign for Liberty Credits Virginia Grassroots for Rejection of Latest Power Grab

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Campaign for Liberty applauded its grassroots members and all other liberty-minded Virginians today who took quick action to turn up pressure on the Virginia State Senate Committee on Privileges and Election to reject SB 507.  The legislation, which would have banned nominating conventions and forced private political parties into taxpayer-funded, state-run primaries, failed in the committee earlier today.

“The Virginia General Assembly has no business telling a private political party how to nominate its candidates,” said Campaign for Liberty President John Tate.

“SB 507 was only rejected because Campaign for Liberty’s dedicated grassroots activists and other concerned Virginians took swift action to make their voices heard.  Campaign for Liberty will continue to remain vigilant to make sure this bill or similar legislation is not successfully revived.”
