Adams
Located in west-central Illinois along the Mississippi River, Adams County was formed in 1825 out of Pike County. It's name is in honor of the sixth President of the United States, John Quincy Adams. It's county seat is Quincy, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the population was 68,277. The county has a total area of 871 square miles. Adams County is more conservative than most Illinois counties, and routinely votes for Republican Candidates.
Adams County has 21 board members. It is divided into 7 districts, with 3 members elected from each district. Each member serves a 4 year term. The members select the Board Chairman.
