Region 19

Since the last census of 2000, there was nearly 660,000 people that live in the southeastern section of Illinois.  The 19th congressional district stretches from the southeastern part of Illinois, reaching up to the greater St. Louis area and snaking around to encompass parts of Springfield, the state capitol. 

The 19th district encompasses 33 different counties.

The counties are listed in full or partial here: Bond, parts of Christian, Clay, Clinton, parts of Edwards, Effingham, (Eric Pals, Coordinator), parts of Fayette, parts of Gallatin, parts of Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, parts of Jersey, Johnson, parts of Lawrence, parts of Madison, Massac, parts of Montgomery, Marion, Pope, Richland, parts of Saline, parts of Scott, parts of Sangamon, parts of Shelby, parts of Wabash, Washington, Wayne, parts of Williamson, parts of White.

The current Representative in DC for the 19th district is Congressman John Shimkus (R).
