Despite Rule Delay, IRS Still Targeting Pro-liberty Groups

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Today, Campaign for Liberty released the following statement from C4L President John Tate on the IRS’s decision to delay proposed rules targeting political groups:

“While many, even on the right, are claiming victory, it is too soon to tell whether the rule changes will protect pro-liberty groups from IRS targeting. Conservative and pro-liberty groups are still being targeted, including Campaign for Liberty, which is being fined daily for refusing to comply with the IRS's 'request' that we hand over donor information.

“Rather than delay or revise the rule, the IRS should completely eliminate the proposed rule all together and end its targeting of pro-liberty groups.”

In March Campaign for Liberty was fined by the IRS for refusing to hand over donor information. Campaign for Liberty is refusing to pay the fine, refusing to hand over donor information, and considering possible legal action.
