Health Freedom Amendment Will Receive Vote Thursday! UPDATED

Senator Rand Paul will introduce an amendment that is likely to receive a vote today.*  It would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act "concerning claims about the effects of foods and dietary supplements on health-related conditions and disease, to prohibit employees of the Food and Drug Administration from carrying firearms and making arrests without warrants, and to adjust the mens rea of certain prohibited acts under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to knowing and willful."

To some C4L members who are also longtime activists in the health freedom movement, the first part of the amendment may be familiar, as it's the text of H.R. 2044, the Health Freedom Act

Please contact your senators and urge them to vote "YES" Senator Paul's amendment to S. 3187.

In addition, it's come to our attention that Senator Durbin has introduced an amendment to the FDA User Fee Bill with the text from his failed Dietary Supplement Labeling Act of 2011, which would greatly restrict access to dietary supplements.

While you have your senators on the phone, urge them to vote "NO" on Senator Durbin's amendment.

*UPDATE: A vote on both the Paul & Durbin amendment will take place on Thursday afternoon, sometime after 2pm EST.
