Late Wednesday night the House of Representatives suddenly ceased working on the Agriculture Appropriations bill, after promising that they would finish the bill Wednesday night. There is no public information as to why the bill was pulled from the floor. I have heard that it is related to the House leadership being in chaos following Eric Cantor's primary loss and a reluctance to have a continuous debate over school nutrition standards. I have also heard the bill may be put back on the schedule in July.
If the House leadership is unwilling or unable to fight something as widely unpopular and blatantly unconstitutional as Michelle Obama's school lunch standards then the House really is in desperate need of new leadership.
