ICYMI: Senator Paul's Floor Speech & McCain vs. Paul on Detention of American Citizens

In case you missed it this morning, here is Senator Paul's floor speech in opposition to Sec. 1031 & 1032 of the National Defense Authorization Act, S. 1867. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anjVgWNzQnk

Following that was a subsequent "debate" between Senators John McCain and Rand Paul over the detention of American citizens in places such as Gitmo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUHh1iqe43w

During part of the debate not included in the video, John McCain repeatedly used a John Adams phrase "Facts are stubborn things" and apparently he he failed to realize the rich irony.

Facts indeed are stubborn things for John McCain as John Adams used that phrase while defending the British Soldiers detained after the Boston Massacre.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. - John Adams
