Last Week in Congress Wrap-Up

Last week, the Senate passed a resolution (S.Res. 68) prohibiting the President from launching a military attack against Iran without approval from Congress. The bill passed with a vote of 55-45.

The following seven Republicans joined every Democrat in voting for the resolution:
Lamar Alexander (TN)
William Cassidy (LA)
Susan Collins (ME)
Mike Lee (UT)
Jim Moran (KS)
Rand Paul (KY)
Todd Young (IN)
You can see the vote here.
You can see Senator Paul’s remarks on the bill here.
Senator Paul’s Financial Spending Oversight and Management Subcommittee held a hearing last week on the Afghan papers. This is the report leaked to the Washington Post revealing how numerous high-ranking military officials and even cabinet members have known for years that the Afghanistan war was unwinnable, yet they misled Congress and the American people about the prospects of victory.
You can watch that hearing here.
You can see Senator Paul discuss Iran, Afghanistan, and protecting real whistleblowers as opposed to deep state operatives with Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul here.
