It is interesting that you picked Walmart for your example company. When I picked it for mine in the comment after your part 1 of this video presentation, I hadn't yet heard part 2. It's true that 500 people come to Walmart to sign up to work, but the reasons for that aren't what you give.  When Walmart opens a store in a small town, they tend to put virtually all the small competing companies out of business.  Many of these family owned businesses have had employees working for them for many years and have been paid a living wage and given benefits. When some small percentage of these same people go to work for Walmart, because they really have no choice do to the loss of other businesses in the area (Small business can’t compete favorably with a company the size of Walmart) and the jobs they represent in their towns, they are given absurdly lousy wages and no benefits.  Speaking of unions, whom I have no love for based on  my knowledge of their practices and effects, Walmart’s policy and practice is to "release" employees who even mention the word union because they're scared to death that they might have to actually pay reasonable wages.  There are communities all over the country that attempt and sometimes succeed in blocking Walmart from opening stores in their specific areas.  These people have done this because they have seen what happens to other small towns where Walmart basically moved in and took over.  The Walmart top brass says (and yes, I heard one of the very top executives say it directly during an interview) to paraphrase, the fact that the communities, or their future customers decide beforehand that they don't want a Walmart in their town is no reason for Walmart not to build there.

Your idea that the "free market" system will take care of the worker is completely unsupportable by practically all the facts that exist today, and frankly somewhat absurd. The govt. IS to blame for many of the problems that exist today, but really big business is equally to blame, since they are one in the same. Many govt. employees, including senators and congressmen are controlled to a great degree by and promote laws that protect businesses at the expense of the little guy.  This is accomplished through incredibly large donations to candidates during elections and the revolving doors between govt. and business (CEOs and congressmen are frequently the same people) needs to be ended finally and completely with very powerful laws against its continuation.

It seems to me that your arguments presuppose that the problems that face, for example, workers in this country are black and white and easily understood.   The simple solutions offered and the reasoning behind them completely ignores the complexity of these problems, and many of the solutions offered are unsupportable. One of the main problems in this country in my opinion is the spread of wealth, where 1% of the people own 40% of the resources, and that 1% pays about ½ the income tax percentage of the average middle income worker. None of this will change as long as big business has their way.

I do agree with you on several points, but I also try to look at both sides of the issues keeping as open a mind as I'm able (everyone has preconceived notions from their own experiences that affect their interpretation of events and issues), and try to see at least the major factors contributing to the problem, the solutions proposed, and the reasons for the solutions offered given by both opposing sides.  Obviously here I haven't done that, but this comment is intended to demonstrate that the issues are far more complicated then you present them to be.  The solutions are as well.
