Whereas: Recent events have proven that mandatory weapon-free zones do not stop armed attackers; and
Whereas: Free people deserve to carry weapons and take responsibility for their personal security; and
Whereas: Police can't always respond immediately to violent threats, nor do police have any legal obligation to put themselves in danger to protect citizens according to the Supreme Court; and
Whereas: "Gun-free zones" and other no-weapon policies empower criminals and put the public at risk by making it a crime for innocent people to use defensive tools to fight back against armed assailants; and
Whereas: A criminal who has the audacity to attack people will most likely not be afraid of violating other rules intended to restrict weapon possession; and
Whereas: Throughout history, tyrants have subjugated people by first banning their access to defensive weapon.
Therefore: We citizens of Baltimore County demand that our Constitutional right of self-defense and weapon possession shall be fully restored and left unrestricted by county government.
