Whereas: The expansion of government in Cecil County continues to cause tax and fee increases annually; and
Whereas: The County Council and County Executive have consistently failed to produce a budget that reduces or holds the line on government spending; and
Whereas: The taxpayers of Cecil County are tired of being used as an ATM by elected officials who have failed to make good on their campaign promises; and
Whereas: Compensation for elected officials is intended to encourage public service, not a full-time career.
Therefore: We, the citizens of Cecil County, oppose any legislation that increases the salary or benefits for the County Executive or County Council Members.
