Now's our chance to stop the Spotsylvania Baseball Bailout once and for all.

Whereas: Spotsylvania taxpayers are not responsible for taking the financial risk of private businesses; and
Whereas: Publicly financed stadiums rarely give taxpayers a return on their investment; and
Whereas: The costs and revenue projections are misrepresented by the team's consultant; and
Whereas: The team currently draws only 976 fans per home game; and
Whereas: The government has no role in bailing out private businesses.
Therefore, be it resolved that we, the citizens of the Spotsylvania County urge our Board of Supervisors to actively oppose and vote "NO" on any baseball stadium proposal that requires taxpayer funding or taxpayer backed bonds; and
Be it further resolved that we strongly urge Chairman Chris Yakabouski to withdraw his support for and actively oppose any proposal that requires taxpayer funding or taxpayer backed bonds.
