Rep Jones Challenge to Congress- Take Back Your Article 1 Powers: No War without Congressional Approval

Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) has introduced a Congressional Resolution (H.Con.Res. 107) which says:

"Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution."

This resolution should be a no brainer and easily pass in the House.  There were plenty of Republicans who opposed President Obama's unilateral military intervention in Libya and plenty of Democrats who opposed President Bush's so-called 'war on terror'.  Of course, if the Republicans had been really serious in their opposition then they would have introduced articles of impeachment against President Obama.  If the Democrats, especially in leadership, were serious, they would have done the same for President Bush.  The sad fact is that most in Congress do not take their oath to the Constitution seriously, and easily play fools to the ever expanding Executive.

At least we have a few good people left.  So, I say two cheers for Rep. Jones and silence for most of the rest.
