My beloved Mother has not voted in at least 10 years, due to being deceased, but that didn’t stop the Republicans from sending her a 2012 Congressional District Census. They said she had been selected to represent voters of California's 25th District--so I guess Democrats aren’t the only ones represented by dead voters. Anyhow, it came in an envelope marked DO NOT DESTROY - OFFICIAL DOCUMENT so I thought it would be wrong to just throw it away. I suppose I should have marked it “address unknown”, but I’m pretty sure she’s in Heaven, so that would have been a falsehood. (God’s not really so petty as to exclude atheists, is he?) So I opened it, with some trepidation because I know it’s a Federal crime to open someone else’s mail. Turns out it was just a survey, full of leading questions that I’d seen a dozen times before. I think the military-industrial complex might have written a few of them. I’m sure some others were written just to offend Hispanic voters, thus ensuring one-party rule for the foreseeable future. Glad Mom isn’t here to see what’s happened to our former land of liberty.
By the way, please don't tell the Feds I opened Mom's mail.
