Iowa Legislature Takes Aim at the 2nd Amendment

The Iowa Legislature is in session, and as the saying goes, “No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.”

The gun grabbers have wasted no time in trying to capitalize on the tragedy in Sandy Hook. Democrats in the Iowa House filed House File 163 (HF 163), “an act prohibiting the sale or transfer of large capacity ammunition feeding devices.”

Also introduced was House File 164 (HF 164), a bill that would force you to conduct a background check every time you sell or transfer a firearm, even to members of your own family!

Together, these two bills:

*** Make you a FELON for selling or transferring high capacity magazines or guns – even to your own family - without conducting a background check.

*** Put you in prison for up to two years for committing either offense.

Two years in prison for handing down the family heirloom shotgun from father to son; two years for selling your collector’s rifle to your best friend.

*** Subject you to over $6,000 in fines - in addition to jail time.

*** Create what gun grabbers have always dreamed of – a list of every gun and gun owner in the State of Iowa.

What can you do help?

Please contact the members of the Iowa House Judiciary Committee (listed below), and tell them you support the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Iowans, and won’t tolerate any effort to restrict or outright ban your right to defend yourself, your family, or your property - wherever you happen to be when a threat arises.

These restrictions on gun ownership do nothing to make us safer from criminals. These laws only serve to penalize law-abiding gun owners.
