SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Today, Campaign for Liberty President John Tate, responded to attacks from RNC Chief of Staff Mike Shields, who has stated his desire to remove what he deemed the “professional right” from the Republican Party:
“While Reince Priebus gives lip service to the grassroots, libertarians and conservatives, he hires a chief of staff who has sworn to remove us from the party.
“These latest remarks by Mike Shields are an insult to the many people who have dedicated their lives to advancing the causes of individual liberty, free-markets, and limited government. His attitude, along with those of other top officials in the Republican Party, is the reason the Republican Party is on the verge of extinction.
“That the DNC is silent about the “Growth and Opportunity” project, while grassroots conservatives and libertarians have legitimate concerns—rather than anything to celebrate—should tell the RNC something about whether their recommendations will actually fix what is wrong with the Party. Despite what Mike Shields claims, Campaign for Liberty did raise our objections to the RNC, but all we heard was silence. And now they choose to launch cheap shot attacks from Capitol Hill cocktail lounges.
“It is up to the RNC whether they want to embrace the most energetic and youthful part of their base and continue to exist as a major Party in this country. So far, the answer is clear that they do not.”
