Money Flying Away

On September 23, 2014, the Orem City Council voted to give Woodbury Corporation, a private company, a $63 million (taxpayer) subsidy for the renovation of the University Mall and for the construction of parking structures and residential and rental units in a project called "University Place."

Over two-thirds of the $63 million will come from the Alpine School District, which is money that has been earmarked for our children. We would be taking money away from our students to fund the mall expansion.

Citizens of Orem can STOP this subsidy by gathering the signatures of several thousand registered voters by the end of October on a referendum petition.
