Georgia

Welcome to Georgia!

The State of Georgia is comprised of 13 Congressional Districts, 159 Counties, and 3274 precincts. As one of the original 13 colonies, Georgia sent a delegation to the 2nd Continental Congress for the ratification and signing of the Declaration of Independence, which it did on August 2, 1776. Georgia ratified the U.S. Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union on February 26, 1778 and later the U.S. Constitution on January 2, 1788, becoming the fourth state to do so.

Per the Georgian Constitution, Georgia's Citizens are, ostensibly, represented at the state level by the Georgia General Assembly which is divided into two houses, the State Senate and the House of Representatives. The People's business is purportedly executed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State School Superintendent, Commissioner of Insurance, Commissioner of Agriculture, and Commissioner of Labor. Adjudication of legal matter within the state is handle by the Courts of Georgia.

Major political parties in Georgia include the Constitution Party of Georgia, the Democratic Party of Georgia, the Libertarian Party of Georgia, and the Republican Party of Georgia. State-wide affliates to these political parties include the Young Democrats of Georgia, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia, and the Young Republicans of Georgia.

The Georgia Campaign for Liberty enjoys a strong and growing youth movement in the form of our sister organization, the Young Americans for Liberty. Georgia chapters include Clayton State University, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Southern University, Southern Polytechnic State University, and the University of Georgia.

Georgia is also home to Civil Liberty organizations such as the ACLU of Georgia, GeorgiaCarry.org, the Georgia Firearm Owners Defense League, and Georgia Gun Owners. State-wide Education Freedom organizations include the Georgia Home Education Association, and Economic Organizations such as the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.
